My name is Cindy Hernandez, and creating the impossible is my mission as a Visual Effects Artist. For the past 7 years I have had the honor to be the Art Director at Marguerite's on Dresden.

I am on a quest to leave my footprint through the magic of cinema, the power of visual storytelling, and a captivating love for fine art and design. It is a dream, to work alongside brilliant minds that need help bringing an idea, a concept, or even a theory to life.

About Me

FX REEL SHOT LIST

During my time at SCAD I experimented with different visual effect techniques. Particles and simulations inspired me to pursue being a Houdini Artist. Currently, my FX reel is composed of particle simulations, 3D assets I created, and an internship project at MOD Creations Studio.

The Kiss | SCAD ATL

Particle Simulation

This project was inspired by Gustav Klimt’s "The Kiss", 1908. This scene brings life and movement to the faces to emphasize the kiss. Created in Houdini using particles, curves, and velocity volumes.

Life & Bees | SCAD ATL

Particle Simulation & 3D Modeling

Final Senior Project at SCAD. The concept for this project stemmed from the importance of bees and their contribution to life. In the scene, life is portrayed as a 'flashback' through the lush grass and subtle swarm of worker bees around a well kept Langstroth bee hive. Created in Houdini using particle simulation, textured terrain surface, and vellum grass. Other visual effects techniques were used such as matte paintings, 3D modeling, shading, and lighting.

Persephone | SCAD ATL

3D Modeling, Shading, & Lighting

Maya and Renderman were used in this project to create a photo-realistic still life. Developed an understanding for 3D modeling, texture maps, and 3 point lighting.

Uber Ad | MOD Creations Studio

Industry Experience: Intern

January 2019 Internship. Rotoscoped a bouquet of green flowers from a difficult greenscreen shot for an Uber commercial. Commercial circulated for the 2019 Super Bowl LIII.

MORE VFX WORK

This collection of visual effects work didn't quite make the cut for my reel portfolio. This collection is made up of experimental student projects. From wood shop miniature models to learning how to code geometry and shaders in Maya Autodesk. These projects ranged any where from 1 week to 10 weeks to complete and meet deadlines.

Living Tree | SCAD ATL

Miniature Model

This hand-made miniature model was a 10 week project. From concept to presenting the final composited video. Exploration of Miniatures and Models during Winter Quarter (January - March 2023).

Galaxy Code | SCAD ATL

Visual Effects

Experimentation project to create a dynamic design using primitive geometry strictly using MEL (Maya Embedded Language).

Script Shaders | SCAD ATL

OSL Shaders

A 3D modeling project created without using traditional user interfaces. Strictly using OSL (Open Shading Language) and MEL (Maya Embedded Language) to import geometry, apply texture maps, and one asset using MEL script in Maya. Rendered using Renderman.

INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE

I am the Art Director at Marguerite's on Dresden, a luxury furniture boutique and Interior Design firm. This family-owned business has become a hidden gem in the heart of Brookhaven, GA. I have been apart of this company since 2017, working along side talented and experienced interior designers, Cindy Lites and Caroline Thompson. This mother-daughter duo has inspired me every step of the way in my creative journey.

Most of my work at Marguerite's consists of social media content and management. I collaborate with the team on design installs and document behind-the-scenes footage as they bring their visions to life. My work at Marguerite's over the years includes, but is not limited to, social media management. I also manage the art inventory for the store, track art sales, design the local monthly magazine print ad, and work along side sales team to provide customers a unique shopping experience. Additionally, I help coordinate and promote the successful yearly Holiday open house in December.
